A waste of time?&#8221;<\/a>. Aanleiding was de publicatie van een OESO-rapport over het gebruik van computers in het onderwijs. Eventjes waren we in paniek. Is elke vorm van ICT-gebruik in de klas &#8211; en dus ook ons hele\u00a0<em>School 21.0<\/em>-project &#8211; compleet nutteloos?<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Vrijwel meteen kwam er reactie op het artikel.\u00a0Zo lazen we onder meer het <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arnevandendriessche.be\/de-ict-sleutel-ligt-bij-de-leerkracht\/\" target=\"_blank\">opiniestuk<\/a> van Arne Vandendriessche. Toegegeven, vanwege zijn rol\u00a0als directeur van <a href=\"http:\/\/www.signpost.be\/\" target=\"_blank\">Signpost<\/a>, een bedrijf dat scholen bedient van ICT (onder meer laptops), is Vandendriessche misschien niet helemaal objectief te noemen, maar hij wijst wel terecht op de nuances in het rapport, die niet (altijd) blijken uit de berichtgeving in de media.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>De belangrijkste drempel voor het welslagen van de \u2018laptop in de klas\u2019 is de figuur van de leerkracht. In de Oeso-studie staat letterlijk dat niet de school maar de leerkrachten de ICT-sleutel in handen hebben.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Wat staat er nu eigenlijk echt in het <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oecd.org\/education\/students-computers-and-learning-9789264239555-en.htm\" target=\"_blank\">rapport<\/a>?\u00a0Je zou het natuurlijk helemaal kunnen lezen. Hieronder, bijvoorbeeld.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.keepeek.com\/Digital-Asset-Management\/embed-oecd\/education\/students-computers-and-learning_9789264239555-en\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Als je wat minder tijd hebt, zou je je ook kunnen beperken tot het bekijken van de bijbehorende <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oecd.org\/education\/school\/Students-Computers-Learning-Making-the-Connection-Infographic%20.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">infographic<\/a> op de offici\u00eble OESO-website. Uit die infographic blijkt wel degelijk dat beperkt computergebruik tot betere resultaten leidt dan intensief computergebruik.<\/p>\n<p>Maar&#8230; wie het <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oecd.org\/education\/new-approach-needed-to-deliver-on-technologys-potential-in-schools.htm\" target=\"_blank\">persbericht<\/a> bekijkt op de OESO-site ziet toch meteen enige nuancering. De titel luidt: &#8220;New approach needed to deliver on technology&#8217;s potential in schools&#8221;. Niet: technologie is tijdverlies. Wel: technologie heeft meer potentieel dan we er nu uithalen.<\/p>\n<p>Ook de offici\u00eble <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/OECDEDU\/students-computersand-learningmaking-the-connection-andreas-schleicher-director-oecd-directorate-for-education-and-skills?ref=http:\/\/www.oecd.org\/education\/students-computers-and-learning-9789264239555-en.htm\" target=\"_blank\">OESO-powerpointpresentatie<\/a>, die je hieronder kunt bekijken, is positiever over technologie\u00a0dan je op het eerste gezicht zou denken. De laatste dia&#8217;s\u00a0verwijzen naar enkele &#8220;veelbelovende ontwikkelingen&#8221; en geven ook enkele aanbevelingen mee, onder meer over een meer actieve rol voor leerkrachten bij het ontwikkelen en implementeren van ICT-toepassingen.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: 1px solid #CCC; border-width: 1px; margin-bottom: 5px; max-width: 100%;\" src=\"\/\/www.slideshare.net\/slideshow\/embed_code\/key\/4Z6fNVnE4DaJbI?startSlide=55\" width=\"425\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"> <\/iframe><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 5px; text-align: center;\">(<a href=\"\/\/www.slideshare.net\/OECDEDU\/students-computersand-learningmaking-the-connection-andreas-schleicher-director-oecd-directorate-for-education-and-skills\" target=\"_blank\">Students, Computers\u000b and Learning:\u000b Making the Connection (Andreas Schleicher, Director, OECD Directorate for Education and Skills)<\/a> van\u00a0<a href=\"\/\/www.slideshare.net\/OECDEDU\" target=\"_blank\">OECD Education<\/a>)<\/div>\n<p>In een <a href=\"http:\/\/edtechnology.co.uk\/Article\/what-the-oecd-report-really-means\" target=\"_blank\">interessante analyse<\/a>\u00a0op de website van <a href=\"http:\/\/edtechnology.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Education Technology<\/a>\u00a0vinden we nog een andere nuancering van het OESO-rapport, die we graag als slotgedachte meegeven.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Finally, I suspect that working out whether or not computers help with education may well be determined as much by our understanding of what education is for as it is by the technologies we use. If education is about passing exams, which haven\u2019t changed that much since the 19th century, then perhaps computers and the web may have only a small part to play.
